Walt Disney World wakes up early as Monstrous Summer All-Nighter kicks off with Mike and Sulley at welcome ceremony

Walt Disney World wakes up early as Monstrous Summer All-Nighter kicks off with Mike and Sulley at welcome ceremony
For the second time ever, Walt Disney World has let guests into the Magic Kingdom theme park for a full 24 hours, beginning this morning. At 6:00 a.m., Disney welcomed an excited - but slightly tired - crowd with a special version of the park’s daily opening ceremony, with Mike and Sulley of Pixar’s upcoming film “Monsters University” helping to start the Monstrous Summer All-Nighter.
With a song-and-dance routine and characters arriving via steam train, Disney started a full day of activities not only in Florida, but also at the Disneyland Resort in California, opening both parks for the special event, part ofLimited Time Magic.

Guests arriving early received Monstrous Summer buttons and special guides have been printed outlining the day’s special events, including Mike and Sulley appearing in a pre-parade and meeting and greeting with guests in Tomorrowland during the late night hours.
A popular item around the welcome moment were Mike Wazowski glasses, part of the merchandise rolled out for this event that also includes Sulley ear hats, T-shirts, cupcakes, and cake pops.

After the welcome ceremony ended, guests entered into the empty streets of the Magic Kingdom as the sun rose over the park, bathing its streets, statues, and iconic landmarks in a warm orange glow.

The All-Nighter fun continues through 6 a.m. tomorrow, May 25, 2013. A dance party will also take place in front of Cinderella Castle to keep guests awake in the wee hours of the morning, much like during One More Disney Day last year - the first time Disney held this event. Captain Jack Sparrow will make overnight appearances in Adventureland and screenings of “Monsters, Inc.” will take place in Tomorrowland as well.
And to stay tuned to the Magic Kingdom throughout the day from home, the Disney Parks Blog is offering a live stream inside the park.

Disney Insures Star Wars Every Summer

Summer-star-wars-movies
Disney and Lucasfilm reportedly told CinemaCon attendees Wednesday that after Star Wars: Episode VII arrives in 2015, fans will see a new Star Wars movie every subsequent summer.
These annual releases will include the other two movies in the new trilogy and several standalone films, which will focus on specific characters from the Star Wars franchise.
The main episodes — VIII and IX — will be released every other summer and a standalone movie will be released during the off years, film sites reported when the news broke during a CinemaCon session in Las Vegas. CinemaCon brings together movie theater owners.
J.J. Abrams, director of the latest Star Trek movies, will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, Disney and Lucasfilm announced on StarWars.com in January. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the standalone films in February, adding that "They are not part of the overall saga."

DISNEY'S MONSTER SUMMER BEGINS

Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will kick off what it is dubbing a “Monstrous Summer” by keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours nonstop on Memorial Day Weekend. The Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park in California will stay open from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25. The weekend will take its inspiration from the upcoming Disney Pixar comedy adventure Monsters University.

“This summer, Disney Parks are bursting with a monstrous lineup of new thrills, shows and happenings,” said Walt Disney World President George Kalogridis. “Guests can start Memorial Day Weekend with a 24-hour-marathon of memory-making as three Parks stay open all day and all night to celebrate the bi-coastal kick-off of a Monstrous Summer at Disney Parks.”

Monster stars Mike and Sulley (the big blue monster and the yellow eyeball) will host the All-Nighter. In Florida, the Magic Kingdom will feature a Monsters University theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the Celebrate a Dream Come True day parade. Guests also will find extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
In California, both parks will feature special entertainment, including a Monster’s University, TLT Monstrous Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland, and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland. The new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre at Disneyland will become a Royal Dance Hall late at night with a live band and dancing.  Disney California Adventure guests will find Monstrous photo opportunities with new Monsters University “Dorms” in Hollywood Land and a new Monsters University float leading the Pixar Play Parade.
All three parks will feature limited-edition specialty merchandise and food and beverage offerings plus other surprises throughout the entire day.

Best Coasters Suggested by some Guests

space mountain

I loved the ride! It was awsome! Anybody who doesn't like this ride is a wimp!
—Guest lilly

Thrill factor of 100 for me

My vote goes to the Monorail thrill ride. The coaster for wimps like me...
—Guest Bro

The top

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the top rollar coaster because it is not scary, but it is fast.
—Guest Maggie

The Fastest Coaster is the Best

The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is the fastest and most thrilling coaster at Disney World.
—Guest Nico

Not The Popular Answer:

OK - I'm ready for the jeers to come. But keep in mind that the only time I've been to WDW was in 1992. Having said that, my fave - and about the only coaster there at the time - is Space Mountain. Arthur Levine, Theme Parks Guide says: Space Mountain is a VERY popular coaster. No need for any jeers!
—Marko50

Best Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World

Splash Mountain is the best, as it's not too scary!! Arthur says: Thanks for writing Lilo 26. Some would argue with you about the scare factor of Splash Mountain's fairly considerable drop. Also, Splash Mountain is a flume ride, not a coaster.
—Guest Lilo 26

Favorite Disney World Coaster

Big Thunder Mountain, with Expedition Everest in second place.
—bklynwife

Everest is the Best

Expedition Everest, for the location and the thrills. Also a great queue.
—Guest schwarj1

WDW - Favorite Ride

Expedition Everest! Fast, thrilling and full of neat stuff to see (while you can)!
—Guest sugibayar001

Best Roller Coaster at Disney World

I always thought Rockin' Roller Coaster was the nuts until I rode Expedition Everest...Nothing compares to it!
—dupy1946

My Favorite is Expedition Everest

The design of the village and the mountain, along with the story of the Yeti really add to this ride. It's more than just a roller coaster. Riding it at night is the best!
—Guest Mark

Expedition Everest

Space Mountain is probably the most famous. Rock 'n' Roller has the launch, onboard audio, and the inversions. But Expedition Everest has the thrills and a great story.

The capital of Grand Bahama Island, founded in 1955 as a center of tourism, has undergone recent redevelopment and again offers nearly every amenity an island visitor could hope for: pristine beaches, golf, water sports, diving, gambling, duty-free shopping, boating, nightclubs and fishing. Want more? Try the Pirates of the Bahamas theme park, Freeport's International Bazaar, Port Lucaya marketplace, Garden of the Groves botanical garden, the Rand Nature Center or Lucayan National Park.

A Kiss from Freeport !!
